In this workshop, two presenters will discuss the origin story of launching the first Tribal Program within a historically white-led agency. The presenters will share their experiences growing up on a rural Tribal reservation, and how those experiences have shaped their advocacy and prevention programming work in Indian country. The workshop will discuss and explore intergenerational trauma in Indigenous communities, and how we should utilize cultural teachings and traditions as protective factors and direct services for Indigenous youth and families.
